VIRTUAL PERSONAL WEB SERVERS

We now have available personal Virtual Web Pages.

What is a Personal Virtual Web Page you ask?

Well as most of you have a personal web page like Mal and his is called

http://www2.ozland.net.au/mgarbutt or
http://www2.ozland.net.au/users/mgarbutt or
http://users.mildura.net.au/users/mgarbutt
(These are all the same)

Some people have been requesting Virtual Personal Web Pages also called Sub Domains and examples are available from Malcolm's web page
http://www2.ozland.net.au/mgarbutt which has several Virtual names like
http://mgarbutt.ozland.net.au (This is easier to remember)
and another -
ORIGINAL http://www2.ozland.net.au/mgarbutt/mildura
VIRTUAL http://mgarbutt.mildura.net.au

You will note that this time I have used the word Mildura to map to another directory, this could be useful for people who have personal web pages but want to show locality oriented.

While they (Names) are available you can have anything on the front of .ozland.net.au
.mildura.net.au
.murray.net.au

This is a first in first served situation and the cost is only $100 per Year per Virtual Personal (Sub Domain) web site.

FULL VIRTUAL WEB PAGES

Some of you have also requested full Virtual Domains for business purposes and doing e-commerce or business across the Internet and some of you are just not aware of this service.

A full Virtual Domain Name is like YOUR-COMPANY.com.au

Now there are 2 parts to a Domain Names and marketing.
1. The Domain Names itself (generally used for email purposes)
2. Virtual Web Servers www.YOUR-COMPANY.com.au

Domain Names are running out very quickly and we have been inundated with companies requesting Domain Names.

Domain Names area first in first dressed situation as well.
ie. the first person to request a Domain Name with proof that they qualify for the Domain is awarded it (After Payment) and it is theirs while they keep paying the yearly fees.

For example, if I had a business called Australian Book Company, I could either register australianbookcompany.com.au or because that is too long I might decide to register the abc.com.au
Now if I was the first person to register the Domain of abc.com.au and the ABC Radio or Television network decided to get on the Internet and try and register it, they could not have the Domain because I registered it first and I will keep paying my yearly fees.

If ABC Radio wanted to get that Domain Name from me, they could either ask me to sell it to them (and I would probably register the long version
australianbookcompany.com.au), or they could wait until I did not pay my fees one year and when the Domain gets put back into the pool, then they can register it for themselves.

Domains are like a business name, if it's there and you can prove why it relates to your business you can have it, if not, you can't.

Full Domain Information is available from http://vws.ozland.net.au
