ENDANGERING PROCESSES
FOXES
Foxes are the major predator of the Malleefowl particularly the young chicks,
less than half of 1%
survive to adulthood.

LAND CLEARING
A large proportion of the Malleefowl's habitat has been destroyed for
agriculture,
thus malleefowl are restricted to the National Parks and Wildlife Reserves
and pieces of remnant vegetation. Due to the malleefowl's migratory nature
there are also many road kills in our area.

FIRE REGIMES
Malleefowl need leaf litter to create decomposition in the mound. The
Malleefowls
eat herbs and other green growth. After fires the amount of food for the
Malleefowl is scarce and the lack of camouflage increases the chance of
a predator attack.
